State Auto acquisition: What’s next for the Liberty Mutual and State Auto products

We’ve always believed that independent agents will win, and we will do more for you than any other carrier. When Liberty Mutual acquired State Auto Insurance, that commitment and aspiration to be your carrier of choice only deepened. We’ve therefore collaborated across brands over the past few months to learn more from each other with the goal of building something better for our agency partners.

As a result of that collaboration, we’ve decided to keep State Auto commercial products (small commercial, middle market and farm & ranch) and Liberty Mutual business lines as separate brands and products for at least the next two to three years, subject to confirmation of state insurance regulatory considerations. Both product sets provide unique value to agents and customers, so in our quest to be the best at commercial lines in the Independent Agency system, we’ll spend that time building the next generation of commercial products that builds upon the best of both brands.

We’re thrilled to develop the future state of commercial products together, and in the meantime, you still have access to the products, people and systems you do today.

This means no changes for you today. Please contact your territory manager if you have any questions.

Take action to help protect your clients from cyber fraud

Imagine an employee is sending a sensitive email over a public network or taking a business call in earshot of someone with malicious intent. In today’s business environment, these occurrences are more of a norm than a what-if, and your clients face new risks that could take their whole business down.

Add cyber fraud to every cyber suite endorsement

Our new cyber suite endorsement includes crucial computer attack and liability coverages and attaches automatically to business owner’s policies in most states*. For the highest level of protection for your clients, be sure to add the optional set of cyber fraud coverages, too. This is particularly important for your clients whose businesses deal with the transfer of money. When you add cyber fraud to your client’s policies, they’re protected from common social engineering techniques like misdirected payment fraud, computer fraud and telecommunications fraud.

How to add cyber fraud coverage

Adding cyber fraud is easy – from the Summary of Policy Coverages section, find Cyber Suite under Optional Coverages and click Edit. Select an insurance limit from the Limit of Insurance dropdown, check the box for Include Cyber Fraud Coverage and the cyber fraud limit will populate accordingly. Click Update to save your changes.

An additional layer of security

Your clients who are cyber suite policyholders also have access to Cyber Safety®, a collection of risk management tools that help prevent cyberattacks. For more information on what Cyber Safety includes, and an email template you can use to remind clients to sign up, visit the Liberty Mutual Cyber Safety agent page.

Resources for you to help clients stay protected

Your clients rely on you to keep them apprised of emerging business risks. Help them stay protected from cybercrime with cyber fraud coverage.

Plus, check out our new informational PDF to help you better understand our cyber suite endorsement and optional cyber fraud coverages, and what makes them both must-haves for your clients.

*Cyber suite for BOP does not automatically attach in New Hampshire or North Dakota and will need to be added manually.

Cyber suite for BOP is currently available in all states except Alaska, California and New York. It will be available in Alaska for policies with effective dates on or after Sept. 1.
