In response to agent feedback, effective Sept. 29 we will stop printing and mailing the Policy Claim Report, which contains loss run information. Going forward, access loss run reports online. Online reports ensure you have the most accurate, up-to-date claim information at your fingertips and reduce the expense of managing paper. To access the reports from the Liberty Mutual® agent portal, click the My customers tab, look under Claims resources, then click Loss runs.

How timely reporting helps decrease GL claims costs

We’ve identified a link between early reporting for liability claims and better financial outcomes. Delays in reporting typically will cause other delays in the claim investigation that can drive up the overall cost of the claim. That’s why it’s critical that claims are filed as soon as possible following a loss.

 

What you can do to help

 

About 80% of small commercial claims are reported by agents. This puts you in a unique position to help reduce costs by educating your policyholders about the importance of filing a claim as soon as possible.

 

Explain to them that the sooner a claim is submitted, the sooner we can start a thorough investigation and reach a better financial outcome. Conversely, the longer your customer waits to report, the more likely it is that key evidence, such as witness statements or dash cam videos, may be lost forever, negatively impacting liability and the chance to pursue subrogation.

 

As their trusted advisor, further explain to customers that concerns about a perceived increase to premium should not discourage them from discussing a claim with you. Many factors are considered by underwriting during rate and renewal decisions, and early collaboration between policyholders, your agency and the claims team leads to better outcomes for everyone.

 

Reporting a claim has never been easier

 

You have three ways to report a new general liability claim 24/7:

 

  1. File online using the Liberty Mutual® agent portal. This is the most efficient method because it immediately gives you a claim number you can use to upload invoices, a police report and other supporting documents.
  2. Submit a claim via email.
  3. Call 1-844-325-2467.

Alacrity Solutions joins the water mitigation vendor program

Whether it’s a burst pipe or a leak in the roof after a heavy rain, a water loss can be a disruptive event for your clients. That’s why we’ve made enhancements to the small commercial water mitigation vendor program to deliver an even better customer and agent claims experience.

 

Partnerships

 

In order to provide better coverage and more capacity for water mitigation services, we’ve added a new vendor partner – Alacrity Solutions. A third-party administrator for water mitigation vendors, Alacrity Solutions provides oversight for a network of more than 2,500 independent operators and franchise-based services across the country, many of which are locally owned, community businesses. We continue to work with our existing partner, Paul Davis Restoration, too. A franchise-based provider offering water mitigation and insurance contracting services since 1966, Paul Davis Restoration provides nationwide coverage through more than 300 offices across the country.
